Installation was simple pretty much “next” “next” “finish” though it’s worth noting that the license key is case sensitive which I find is rare. If I’d have had performance issues after installing this, I would have been astonished.
I found the application slightly end-user unfriendly as none of the tools are on toolbars and I couldn’t find anywhere to make this happen so you have to navigate through the menus, which is a little time-consuming for large documents and is useless in a high-utilisation environment. But this is marketed at domestic use I’m guessing so I won’t allow that to retract from the overall product.
When you open the application, there is a large splash screen with obvious menus for you to either open an existing file, or go to the “Page View” to read, bookmark and edit a PDF, or the assembly view, which is the feature which allows you to compile different file formats together to create a PDF document.
For users new to PDF editors, there is a “Finish Document Wizard” which allows you to prepare your files step-by-step, with prompts that remind you to enter summary information for document, and set permissions and security, so there is no way you can forget these often critical steps. The lack of toolbars aside, the product is very intuitive to use, and has decent depth of features for the price.
I would recommend this for home use for any professional or student. This is a program that allows you to view, assemble, edit and convert documents. It works with doc, xls, xps, ppt and pdf to allow you to create your own pdf documents. The program comes with 3 different aspects – page view, flick view and assembly view.
You just drag the files you want to use onto the aspect you want to use. Flick view allows you to browse search and read files – when you open the file you see spread out next to each other and can use the scrollers to easily scroll through them and find the page you want.
I found it a little slow to load initially but then found browsing the file was quicker than I normally find digital editions to be. This is a simple and easy facet of the application that looks nice and works well but doesn’t do anything other free programs do. Assembly view – when you first open this view you get a quick tutorial which takes you step by step 3 simple steps on how to take multiple files and pull out the pages from them to make your own document.
It was really easy to use and I could easily choose pages from a variety of pdfs that I already had to create my own document. The assembly view is what you would want to buy this product for and I have to say I was impressed with the ease with which I could use this product to create my own document from 3 pdfs. If you’re wanting to take pdfs and edit them into your own then I would definately recommend this product.
I picked this product because I thought that it would be handy for my work as I have to prepare typed handouts for clients and I think that sending them out as a pdf looks much more professional than a word document. I installed the program and prepared to convert all of my handouts into pdf files.
I fell at the first hurdle. The transfer from word to pdf skewed the formatting – borders weren’t quite in the same place so it threw the text out of line. It just wasn’t an exact copy of my word document, which I had carefully formatted, and so it just looked scruffy. I gave up at that point. I can see how the option to mix and match pages of other pdf documents and save them as one file might be useful for other people, but for me PDF Fusion was more trouble than it was worth because it couldn’t manage the one simple task which I picked it for.
This is a useful piece of software. If you need to generate PDFs, edit them, include images and assemble complex documents, this application is for you and without the cost of expensive Adobe products. It really does the trick and works faster than Adobe software.
Output is clean. If you require expert level publishing customizations and checks such as “pre-flight”, then it will have to be Adobe’s own software really. The settings and functions in this piece is just good for every day mainstream operations, file conversions, basic editing, but won’t match all of the features available in Adobe’s own PDF rendering software.
I mean no disrespect to any reviewer that rates this item as more than 1 star, however, in this form it does very little for me other than some excellent free products widely available on the internet. Absolute waste of money. Have you ever wished you could create your own PDFs? How about edit a PDF you already have? Add notes, highlights and custom index points? How about convert a PDF to an editable Word document? Well, if you want to do all this, you could think of paying a lot of money for Adobe Acrobat Pro which admittedly does quite a bit more besides or you could buy PDF Fusion and get the functionality you do want without paying up to 10x the price for a bunch of stuff you don’t need.
So far as re-paginating, editing, highlighting, exporting, indexing and converting PDFs to Word, the only requirement is that the source PDF be ‘printable’. I downloaded a user guide for my camera from the manufacturer’s website, convert it to Word and was able to directly edit the text in MS Word All the formatting was perfectly preserved, even the images.
To be honest I was very pleasantly surprised. It works very quickly, and without any error messages, even when working with documents hundreds of pages long. PDF Fusion, however, is incredibly easy to use, with an intuitive drag-and-drop interface that lets users become proficient in just minutes.
