Hello,. I am currently running Mojave and trying to update Logic Pro X to , however, the app store only has the latest version. Hello! To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question. I’m just wondering if there are any new, official ways to ask Logic Pro X to store the additional content that is downloaded to a different location e. This is the location where all your additional content is beeing installed to. Use the symbolic link tool to create a symbolic link from the ‘Logic’ file which has been copied to your external drive.

Be aware if you want to download 30 GB of content and your SSD has just 20GB free space, it will show you the same error message because it stores the download file still on your SSD until installation is done.

The solution for this is to download everything part by part. Maybe there is a simpler solution. This was very quick and easy for me. Logic 9 and 10 both work still. Jul 17, AM. Page content loaded. Yes, it is essential that we have a way to place these additional files on different drives, especially for those of us that use a smaller SSD drive for certain applications and a larger drive for other things. I currently can’t install the additional files because Mavericks installed the Logic Pro X Application to my OS drive which is rather cramped. But anything to simplfy this would be great.

For example, download and install first Apple Loops, after this download and install the next package.

After placing the link in my Application Support folder and re-naming it “Logic” after deleting the original folder I click to download additional content. Logic downloads the content, but when it goes to install it Logic then erases the link and auto-creates a new “Logic” folder in its place, in which the new content then appears.

The new content doesn’t show on my external hd. And thanks for proposing any solution at all. I’m working on an older mb pro with a drive that’s nearly full and this issue is crazy frustrating.

The key to making it work, as far as I remember, is to install it on an earlier OS which is compatible. Might be worth trying with CS5 as well. I haven’t yet had the time to learn the new workflows, so it’s still Photoshop for me, but when I do I can probably switch completely stop worrying about bit support in MacOS. Sorry to everybody else for the off-topic discussions. I was hoping for a “Private message” option here as usually found in other forums, but it doesn’t seem possible.

Thanks again for all the help with making it possible for me to buy Logic Pro even when I use an older OS version. Looks like a great app, and with similarities to Garageband I think I’ll be getting the hang of using it soon although I will be looking for some “getting started” youtube videos or something. Although I began already 20 years ago working with Logic 4 pre-Apple on a buddy’s Mac, then buying Logic Express 6, 7, 8, then almost 10 years with Logic Studio 9 until last December, I still barely use the full potential and need to look up the user guide each time I haven’t used Logic for, say, a few months.

Flexibility comes with complexity. It’s inevitable. If you want to speed up your workflow, make full use of custom keyboard shortcuts. Remove shortcuts you wouldn’t ever need, add shortcuts for every task you use often.

Personally, I don’t like many of the default shortcuts because they don’t match standard shortcuts as used by other audio editors. Luckily Logic allows to customize literally any possible shortcut that there is.

Jan 31, PM in response to Lukas. Great advice! Shortcuts are always nice -especially if they’re recognizable from other similar types of workflows. I noticed that the dafult mode is very Garageband-like, which made me feel more at home right away although I had problems finding some things yes, I found the “expert” settings which I’ll investigate further later, but for now I think the “beginner mode” will help me learn it better without too many distractions.

I could probably need a basic “walkthrough” of some sort which I’m sure I’ll find on Youtube. Logic appears a lot more intuitive than many other DAWs out there, and hopefully it will work better when syncing and using external MIDI hardware synths, drum machines etc.
