I’ve been running Outlook for a while now keep just yesterday, all of a sudden it starts asking me for a password about every 5 minutes. It happens to me about every 2 months since Microsoft changed Outlook over the the Office server platform. I have gotten nowhere with the phone support and have had a ticket in for months. Microsoft is getting so screwed up that it can no longer support its product and customers.

But I keep getting the annoying messages when working in Outlook doing Email, that keeps prompting me to add my Password. I have searched the web and lots of info about earlier versions of Windows even Windows I have also done the check for the latest update for officevia the Outlook File, then Office Account, then check updates which says I am up to date. Also I have a Domain name of my own which has worked well for years in Outlook, and I have not changed any of those settings, but Outlok still keep getting these very annoying messages to tree in my password, which Microsofft have done so many times, but it keeps re-prompting.
The good thing is that even though I keep getting these prompt messages, I am not locked out of Outlook and all of that process stills seem to work ok.
I have even tried the Microsoft Help communication with a Robot and I get messages dor me to re-type in my question. So that system for Microsoft is nearly useless free this question.

I went so far as to remove Office from the system, restarted, cleaned the system using CCleaner Professional, cleaned the registry using CCleaner Professional and reinstalled Office with the original distribution disc.

If this is an Office account the Outlook Team is investigating an auth prompt issue. In the cases I looked at users were getting an unexpected Basic Auth prompt. If you are on Monthly Channel I would be curious if you reverted to the Office build before April 29th.

This is a standalone Outlook account, not an Office account I think. I don’t know what Monthly Channel is. That Word version looks a little old. The more recent update version should be Unless Word is showing the wrong version I would first recommend installing the latest updates.
Not sure what version of Windows you have. In the Windows search box type updates to get to Windows Update settings and turn on Microsoft Update if it is not. When this is turned on it will pull down all the Office updates for you automatically. I would make sure Office is fully up to date first and see if that helps mitigate the issue. These are what Windows should pull down when Microsoft Update is enabled. Note that I reinstalled Office from the original CD after the problem started.
It explains why the version is old. That tells me my problem is not a version-specific problem. The old version that worked for almost a year is now having the password problem too. What’s left? Is my account corrupt? Doesn’t seem likely since I can access Outlook from the web application and from the messaging app on my PC.
Is Windows 10 out of date? Windows Update says “You’re up to date. Last checked Yesterday, PM. Make sure that is turned on and then go run Windows Update again. For the record, that’s 10 days since the last time. There were no recent updates in the Update History, and there was no obvious reason for the change.
Just, one time I went to check messages I do it manually rather than on a time schedule and Outlook prompted for my password, even though it had already been entered before. I tried shutting down and restarting Outlook. I tried shutting down and restarting my computer. Outlook still wanted the password every time I tried to check messages.
So I did a System Restore again and now Outlook is back to working properly. I don’t think this has anything to do with the Outlook problem because it has not happened previous times, but I’ll mention that since the System Restore I’m having some problems.
But Outlook is working! Good to know that your Outlook problem is now working. Sometimes this error can be quite critical as it could damage your hard disk, memory or in rare circumstances, your processor. In this case, we may need to perform some troubleshooting steps and see if it helps:.
Step 1: Start your device in Safe mode. Safe Mode starts Windows with a limited set of files and drivers. Startup programs don’t run in Safe Mode with Networking, and only the basic drivers needed to start Windows are installed. Step 2: Clean Boot. If the issue does not persist in Safe Mode, then perform a clean boot to check if any third party application is causing the issue, as clean boot helps in eliminating software conflicts.

This is a recent development. Normally I log on in the morning and Outlook keeps my password as long as I am logged on, so that I just have to enter my password once a day.
